Summary

Available on Kindle Unlimited November 1, 2022。 Pre-orders begin October

What do a cat, a one-night stand, and a game of Catan all have in common? Love。

Despite being the football coach’s daughter, Greta Sahnoun resents the sport and is furious when her best friend mistakes a football house party for a frat kegger。 Instead of mingling inside, Greta seeks solitude in the backyard and, not surprising to anyone that knows her, winds up kissing the jaded stranger outside with her。 A little dry humping and a brief exchange about cats later, the two wind up in her apartment for a night of casual, raunchy fun。

Otis Morgan is a Heisman-winning quarterback with a bad knee and a penchant for being in love。 He’s a little full of himself and craves attention, but that’s expected of a collegiate NFL recruit。 When Greta refuses to see him again after their night together, it’s no surprise that he takes it hard and says things he shouldn’t, and because the universe is out to get him, Greta overhears。 Always one to put people in their place, she wagers a bet with Otis, one that ends with the good kind of choking。

Suddenly, what’s supposed to be a just-one-more-time lapse in judgment turns into a recurring mistake, one they both enjoy immensely。 But like all relationships, the two hit an impasse。 Greta has never been good with emotions—feeling them, dealing with them, and most of all, surrendering herself to them。

They say love hurts, so maybe it’s a good thing Greta enjoys a little pain。

DNF at 89%I have been reading books in one sitting for the last 5 books I’ve read。 This book I started off normally and by the halfway point I was starting to lose interest。 I am now at the end of the book and I really just don’t care enough about how it ends to finish it。 It has way too much internal dialogue and not enough external, probably could’ve been half the length and I would have finished it。 Also really struggled to connect with the characters。 Mainly because I did not like their pers DNF at 89%I have been reading books in one sitting for the last 5 books I’ve read。 This book I started off normally and by the halfway point I was starting to lose interest。 I am now at the end of the book and I really just don’t care enough about how it ends to finish it。 It has way too much internal dialogue and not enough external, probably could’ve been half the length and I would have finished it。 Also really struggled to connect with the characters。 Mainly because I did not like their personalities。 Just not good people in general。 。。。more

Otis freaking out abt emotional confessions? He’s just like me fr This book a long ass time to get off the group I felt like there was no sense or plot until a little over halfway through the book。 But it picked up and got better - I definitely cried a couple of times bc the emotion was so well written。 Was a little confused at time because it jumped without context but this was cute and good enough。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I have so many feelings about this book。 It’s a 5 star story but a 4 star book。 I feel like it needed edited more in the period between 13% - 45%。 Some of the beginning was super corny but then the book takes an emotional turn and the corn is mostly left behind。 I loved Greta and Otis。 I know the slut shammers will go wild with hate in their hearts for Greta but I loved her sexuality。 Her sass。 I did feel like some of the erroneous details distracted from the heart of the story。 I didn’t feel li I have so many feelings about this book。 It’s a 5 star story but a 4 star book。 I feel like it needed edited more in the period between 13% - 45%。 Some of the beginning was super corny but then the book takes an emotional turn and the corn is mostly left behind。 I loved Greta and Otis。 I know the slut shammers will go wild with hate in their hearts for Greta but I loved her sexuality。 Her sass。 I did feel like some of the erroneous details distracted from the heart of the story。 I didn’t feel like the sex scenes were too much but I know the way he speaks to her in the beginning will make some people uncomfortable。 Also don’t make our hero bi and not include a hot MMF scene。 That’s just mean。 Overall it brought out all my emotions and I feel a little lost the way it ended as if even though it was super long I still wanted more。 I look forward to watching this writer in the future。 。。。more

My feelings for this book went very up and down。 There's likely going to be spoilers mixed in so if anyone is actually reading this, here is the warning。Greta, she was like a little black cat。 I thought she was pretty cool and communicative with her feelings (for the most part), and I liked that。 I think her relationship with her family was so authentic, really the whole book is。 What happened to her brother, god I can't imagine, and how she internalised that really shaped the type of character My feelings for this book went very up and down。 There's likely going to be spoilers mixed in so if anyone is actually reading this, here is the warning。Greta, she was like a little black cat。 I thought she was pretty cool and communicative with her feelings (for the most part), and I liked that。 I think her relationship with her family was so authentic, really the whole book is。 What happened to her brother, god I can't imagine, and how she internalised that really shaped the type of character she was。 I think other than her relationship with Otis, her relationship with her dad was at the forefront。 He's a strict man that quickly changes his emotions and behaviour rapidly, which can be really difficult to deal with。 Reading about how their relationship shifted was beautiful to read, and I hope it continued even after the book。 Now Otis, we had a bit of a rocky relationship。 When first meeting Otis in the book, I feel in love with him。 His sweetness was just encompassing and I was swooning like I never had before。 He was just so open with his feelings that it melted my heart。 And this continued for a while until learning about his relationship with Autumn。 At one point early in the book Otis tells Greta that an apology doesn't count if it's followed by a 'but'。 But, when apologising to Autumn for how he treated her in their relationship, he was interally excusing himself。 Saying things like, "yeah I was terrible to you and i'm sorry, but why didn't you just leave?"。 And I started getting so mad at him, the fact that he was trying to put blame on someone other than himself for what occured in their relationship。 And what he said to Greta's dad, (view spoiler)[ calling him a murderer and blaming him for Julien's death? After what Greta told him? Absolutely betrayed。 (hide spoiler)] While Greta's mother forgave him, at the end of the day he used something that Greta told him for personal satisfaction。 (view spoiler)[ I'm glad he got therapy, I remember at one point saying he needed it, BUT DAMN did he need it。 (hide spoiler)] I found his groveling sweet, but it was his actions towards others that, I think, really showed his growth。 (view spoiler)[ When he started bawling because Greta forgave him, I died。 (hide spoiler)]Also we stand two queer icons and I love how it was just mentioned in the book instead of like this huge revalation。 I think this book was nice because of how real some moments felt。 I read for escapism so it was sort of overwhelming to read such realistic moments, but I enjoyed it nonetheless。 。。。more

🫀🫀🫀🫀/5Well that was hot。 A quarterback and coach’s daughter both grieving the loss of a family member and finding love in each other despite the fmc’s stubbornness。 My only critique is that I think it could have been about 50-100 pages shorter。 Greta aka Miriam’s antics got to be a bit much and I wanted to shake her。 Not so much that I didn’t like her, just more of a get out of your own damn way annoyance。 To the sweet adorably lovable quarterback… you are perfect — never change Princess。Cue ALL 🫀🫀🫀🫀/5Well that was hot。 A quarterback and coach’s daughter both grieving the loss of a family member and finding love in each other despite the fmc’s stubbornness。 My only critique is that I think it could have been about 50-100 pages shorter。 Greta aka Miriam’s antics got to be a bit much and I wanted to shake her。 Not so much that I didn’t like her, just more of a get out of your own damn way annoyance。 To the sweet adorably lovable quarterback… you are perfect — never change Princess。Cue ALL the Quotes。🗣️ But alas, I’m not a koala, he’s not a eucalyptus tree, and climbing strangers is frowned upon。🗣️ All the toxic molecules entering my body serve two purposes: to kill and comfort me。 It’s what a poet would call situational irony。🗣️ I’m in no mood for small talk, and flirting is all about small talk。 It takes so much effort and energy, two things I do not have in me。🗣️ I stop being frisky and start getting frisky。🗣️ Is it wrong to be turned on by someone making the bed?🗣️ “You’re the type of monster to like mint chocolate chip, aren’t you?”🗣️ Where is the line between too much and just enough?🗣️ “What part of ‘I don’t want to talk about Miriam’ do you not get?” “The ‘don’t’ part。”🗣️ “You can’t take back a sorry。 Sorries are permanent。 Once they’re out there, they’re out there。”🗣️ “What feelings?” I need to get that phrase printed on a shirt。🗣️ Before I’d even seen him wearing what can only be described as sex-focals, I was weak willed。🗣️ He’s an amalgamation of sports-bro and puppy, the two personalities haphazard in their appearance。🗣️ he looks at me like I’m a dream, and I hug him like he’s the best version of my reality。🗣️ I imagine it’ll change me, rearrange my spirit’s tectonics。🗣️ “I’m already waiting to catch you after the fall。”Final ThoughtsI enjoyed the banter and spice and would recommend Midnight Kisses。 Thank you to my friends and their reviews that inspired this read。 🥰 。。。more

tell me why it’s the first time I read a book with a bisexual mmc? or why I didn’t read this freaking book earlier? seriously, I was really skeptical at the start because everyone loved greta there but I wasn’t convinced oops。 but now, I definitely get how you can stan greta‘s strong woman vibes。 I loved the representation in this one, like one fmc with an algerian dad (if I remember correctly?), a french mom living in the us and an hispanic, bisexual mmc。 the friends groups were just cool and I tell me why it’s the first time I read a book with a bisexual mmc? or why I didn’t read this freaking book earlier? seriously, I was really skeptical at the start because everyone loved greta there but I wasn’t convinced oops。 but now, I definitely get how you can stan greta‘s strong woman vibes。 I loved the representation in this one, like one fmc with an algerian dad (if I remember correctly?), a french mom living in the us and an hispanic, bisexual mmc。 the friends groups were just cool and I live for otis was just great。 a boy that gets you flowers everyday? a golden retriever boy? someone who asks for consent? yes please。 greta, I have never related to you so hard。 a strong woman, in her i-get-guys-so-what-phase I love it, always there for a nice surprise or a feisty banter :)。 honestly at this point I live sleep and breathe their playlists for each other。 this book also had character development written all over it。in short, I really enjoyed that book and even though it was longer than my normal reads I still felt really engaged the whole time :)。 I wish I read this a bit later (maybe in college) because I’d relate so much more I think。 。。。more

3。5 - 4!Midnight Kisses was a fantastic debut! The characters, the plot, and the chemistry! I was reeled in by the fact that this was a sports romance, athelete x coach's daughter (!), bisexual MMC(!!), and (reverse) grumpy-sunshine (!!!), and ya know 😗。 Although I noticed some grammar mistakes and missing punctuation they were very few and towards the end。Indie romances are amazing because they have more room to explore and push the genre forward。 For example, the text messages and playlists in 3。5 - 4!Midnight Kisses was a fantastic debut! THE funny girl。 The amount of times I have laughed at her quips and comebacks (mostly towards Otis) is immeasurable。 She is the grump! I relate to her in some ways because Greta is off-put by the slightest sweet-lovey-dovey-romantic gesture。 Otis calls her "babygirl" and she responds “I just threw up in my mouth。 Disgusting。 Don’t ever call me Baby Girl。”Greta has built an emotional wall especially when it comes to romantic relationships which is fine, but she still felt inaccessible even in her own chapters compared to Otis。 I wish we got to see a softer side of her perhaps a sweet moment with her mom or her best friends。 There was the missed opportunity between Elise and her for a deeper conversation outside of the club。 I like Greta, but I wanted more character growth from her as an individual and not in relation to her situationship with Otis。 At the beginning, Greta isn't serious about her grades, spends recklessly, tests her parents' rules, and is still the same towards the end。 She has a big romantic declaration at the end for Otis, but I would have liked some smaller moments leading up to it。 O T I S aka "PRINCESS" aka "BEST BOY""Pretty, pretty, pretty。 God, I would love to fuck the pretty out of her。" First。。。I am sorry your name is "Otis", but I am not sorry that I laughed when Greta joked you were named after the Nickelodeon cow 🐮。 I had to google "otis nickelodeon" and she's hilarious。 YAY for MC in sports romance that isn't an alpha meat head skewer。 Plus he is a BISEXUAL KINGGGGG!? 👑 The author explicitly provides examples of Otis' past relationships and crushes with guys and his interactions with his (platonic but very chummy) soulmate/bestfriend/teammate Henrik。 There's also zero digs at all about his sexual orientation! What we do get is that many of his football teammates are in relationships with other men。 “Only if you tell me who your daddy is,” he whispers suggestively。Honestly, it doesn’t surprise or bother me that half the team thinks we’re pegging each other。 I inhale sharply and swallow every ounce of dignity I’ve managed to retain during my twenty-one years。 “You’re my daddy。”He smirks and coos, “That’s right, baby boy。 I’m your daddy。” I had to take time to warm up towards Otis because he was very annoying in the beginning。 From overstaying his welcome after the one-night-stand with Greta to huffing and puffing why she didn't want to hook up again。 Looking back, this does lay the framework for Otis's growth。 He fucks up a lot and does terrible things。 Honestly, his anger and temper scared me—the way he was able to compartmentalize it too。 How he can be 🥺 and also 😤 at the same time。。。duality。。。While he takes awhile to come to terms with his actions, he does apologize and work to be a better person with the support of his family。“When things get hard for me, when I’m uncomfortable or don’t feel too good, I’m not a good person。 And that makes me not a good person, period。” ✨ HONARABLE MENTIONS ✨ F O O T B A L L T E A M Otis's teammates are probably one of my favorites out of the sports romance I have read。 They were't your typical bro jocks and had great friendships with each other。 K A T I A & M O N I C A “Hey, Coach Sahnoun’s daughter。 Sorry for roaming around。 We’re looking for a bathroom,” Katia says following a lingering awkward silence between the three of us。 “He’s not potty trained, so I’m on dooty-duty。” How old is Katia again? Anyways, these two are probably the bane of Otis's existence (aside from the love of his life, Greta) They terrorized him。 Again, I wish we got to see some sweeter and tender moments from them in a show-don't-tell fashion。 The way this book made me CACKLED! Both Greta and Otis did some groveling too ☺️Notes:- Greta is half Algerian and French。- Otis is half white and Latino and bisexual。- Elise is Black。- James and Greta had a past FWB relationship but are besties now! 。。。more

Top 2 and It’s Not 2See, I knew I was gonna love this book when I read the intro and it referenced 21 Savage。 This book left me speechless。 SPEECHLESS!! Putting aside the incredible steamy scenes (give this woman an award), the beautiful friendships, the intentional representation of so many identities and cultures — Jeanine Bennedict’s depiction of these two incredibly flawed people, their grief, and their relationship was so genuine and personal it flowed off the pages。 I fell in love with Oti Top 2 and It’s Not 2See, I knew I was gonna love this book when I read the intro and it referenced 21 Savage。 This book left me speechless。 SPEECHLESS!! She is who she is and it’s important to her that she be accepted for herself, not who anyone thinks she should be。 Elise and Herik were the secret heroes of this book, stealing the scene anytime they were in it。 The true, natural components of them as people really strengthened them as characters and added so much to the story as a whole。 Not to mention, the impeccable incorporation of Gen Z lingo!! These characters are college aged, and as a 23 year old I was over the moon to see the words and phrases I use everyday added in this book so perfectly。 I read a lot of college/young adult and this means so much to me!!! This book was intenseOtis and Greta are both damaged individual and while they seem totally wrong for each other。Spoiler alert。 This book has alot of sex。 While I do not understand why the writer needed it to be so graphic。The book is about healing, forgiveness, love and ability to realise that we are not perfect nor or those we love。

Suspend all belief with this book。 I really enjoyed the first 250 pages ? But it kept dragging and the stuff you wanted to know about were discussed off page。 Enough telling and more showing ! Greta was such a terrible selfish FMC。 And Otis was somewhat better but some things he did had me 🤨🤨🤨。 The spice was pretty good but I fear this has put me in a reading slump 。 Would much prefer a book with Elsie and herik!
